Orthodontics in Breza
Straightening teeth and correcting the bite
Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with teeth and jaws in the wrong position. The aim is not only a lovely smile but a correct bite that protects the teeth, gums and jaw joint.

When do you need an orthodontist?
Book a check-up if you notice any of the following, in yourself or your child:
- Crowded, crooked or rotated teeth
- Gaps (diastemas) between the teeth
- Upper teeth that stick out, or lower teeth that close in front of the upper ones
- Teeth that don't meet when biting (open bite)
- Upper teeth that almost completely cover the lower ones (deep bite)
- A jaw shifted to one side, difficulty chewing or a clicking jaw joint
- In children: early loss of baby teeth, thumb sucking, mouth breathing

First visit
A talk and an examination of the teeth, bite and face. You find out whether treatment is needed and when.
Diagnostics
OPG and cephalometric X-rays at the practice, photos and impressions or models of the teeth.
Treatment plan
We explain the plan, type of braces, duration and price. The decision is yours.
Active treatment
Fitting the braces and check-ups every 4–8 weeks, depending on the type.
Retention
A retainer holds the teeth in their new position. This part matters as much as the treatment itself.
Why orthodontics is not just about looks
Crowded or overlapping teeth are harder to clean, so decay and tartar build up faster. A bad bite can lead to uneven wear of the teeth, gum problems and strain on the jaw joint. In children, a jaw growth problem that is left untreated is harder and slower to correct later.
Straight teeth are, of course, also about confidence — especially for teenagers. A good orthodontic result means a smile that is both healthy and beautiful.

Questions
Common questions about orthodontics
Do I need a referral?
No. Vita Dente is a private practice, so you don't need a referral for a check-up. Simply book an appointment by message or phone.
Does orthodontic treatment hurt?
It doesn't hurt, but for the first few days after the braces are fitted and after check-ups you feel pressure and tender teeth. This passes in two to four days. A normal painkiller can help if needed.
How often are the check-ups?
With fixed braces usually every 4 to 6 weeks, with removable braces every 4 to 8 weeks. Check-ups are short and we arrange them at times that suit you.
What is a retainer and how long is it worn?
A retainer is a thin wire bonded to the inside of the teeth, or a clear removable retainer worn at night. It keeps the result after the braces come off. Teeth tend to move back, so a retainer is worn for a long time — you get exact instructions at the end of treatment.
